Tragic: Ogun Festival turns bloody as man dies from broken bottle stab in Ado-Ekiti

What began as a celebration of the Ogun Festival in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, ended in tragedy on Tuesday after a man identified as Rotimi was allegedly stabbed with a broken bottle by a man popularly known as “Fuganiser” and later died from the injuries sustained in the attack.

What began as a celebration of the Ogun Festival in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, ended in tragedy on Tuesday after a man identified as Rotimi was allegedly stabbed with a broken bottle by a man popularly known as “Fuganiser” and later died from the injuries sustained in the attack.

Eyewitnesses said the incident occurred at about 2:00 p.m. under the bridge along Ijigbo Street in the state capital, where the
Ogun Festival celebration was taking place.

According to reports, the deceased was allegedly attacked by “Fuganiser”, whose real identity had yet to be ascertained as of press time.

Sources said the confrontation reportedly followed a minor disagreement, adding that both men were believed to have been under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident.

The suspect allegedly used a broken bottle to attack Rotimi, inflicting serious injuries on him.

The victim reportedly later died from injuries sustained during the attack.

His remains have since been deposited at the mortuary of the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital for preservation.

The suspect reportedly fled the scene and remains at large, as security agencies have launched a manhunt to identify and apprehend him for investigation and possible prosecution.

Security personnel have also been deployed to the area to maintain order and gather information about the incident.

The situation was said to be calm, with no reported reprisal attack or further disturbance.
