UCC Condoles With Newwaves Editor Over Father’s Demise

By Chris Mark

Members of the United Correspondents’ Chapel (UCC) of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Bayelsa State Council, have commiserated with their colleague and Editor of the Bayelsa State Newspaper Corporation, New Waves, Mr. Etete Enideneze, urging him to be courageous over the passing of his father, Pa Sylvanus Moab Etete.

The Chairman of the UCC, Comrade Ekaunkumo Amgbare, gave the advice when he led other members of the chapel on a condolence visit to Enideneze’s residence in Agudama-Epie, Yenagoa, the state capital.

Describing death as inevitable, Comrade Amgbare encouraged Enideneze to take solace in the Lord and draw comfort from the enduring legacies of his late nonagenarian father.

Describing the bereaved media practitioner as a prolific writer whose works have shaped society, Amgbare further noted that Enideneze is a replica of his late father, who was dedicated to his career as a fashion designer and an entrepreneur of no mean repute.

The UCC Chairman pledged the chapel’s support during the funeral activities and urged Enideneze and the Etete family to promptly inform the chapel of the burial date and arrangements.

Responding, Comrade Etete Enideneze commended the UCC for identifying with him and his family during this trying time.

The media expert stated that he would greatly miss his father’s words of advice and inspiration.

He recalled that his late father was instrumental to his academic achievements, noting that although the late nonagenarian chose a vocational career, he ensured that his son received a sound education and was raised with good moral values.

He described his father as a disciplinarian, hardworking, resourceful and generous entrepreneur who did not live for himself alone.

“My father’s house was a home for all. He took care of both his biological children and relatives. His children’s friends were his children. He never discriminated against anyone who came around him.

“I will greatly miss his life-changing pieces of advice and words of inspiration,” he added.
