THEIR NATURE DETERMINES HOW YOU NURTURE THEM

Having many children has really opened my eyes to the depth of individual child uniqueness, more so when you have twins. For the twins, I discovered that different things excite, motivate, challenge, and upset them. While one of them thrives in an atmosphere of competition, i.e., motivated by opposition, the other is more self-motivated, sets records for self, and challenges it.

Even though I always knew, I empirically concluded after years of studying them that nature and nurture are two sides of the coin in the developmental and socialisation process of a child, and to enable you nurture them maximally, you must understand their nature. I had to get a respected personality and life clarity coach to profile my children and get a more informed view of their personality traits. This gave us a whole new, enlightened perspective on how to guide them through life.

Is your child sanguine, choleric, melancholy, or phlegmatic? Are they extroverted or introverted? Do they have type A, B, C, or D personality? It is important to know that:

– certain personality types are best suited for certain types of career

– every personality has strengths and weaknesses, and none is superior to the other

– their dominant personality cannot be changed, all we need to do is influence them by getting the best from their congenital trait

Our children’s personalities are influenced by many factors, including their genetic make-up, experiences, environment, relationships, etc. I always advocate that we should help our children to work on improvement in their areas of weakness, while concentrating more on, and reinforcing their areas of strength, in order to improve their overall confidence and effectiveness in life. Children, like us all, can only improve in their area of weakness but excel in their area of strength.
