Resign now: Tony Okocha tells Gov. Fubara, or Face Impeachment

Mr. Tony Okocha the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State, has advised the state governor, Siminalayi Fubara, to step down from his position or face the possibility of impeachment. Okocha issued this advice during a press conference held in Port Harcourt on Monday morning.

He criticized Governor Fubara’s recent invitation to the 27 state lawmakers for a meeting, labeling it as a “Greek gift”—a gesture that appears generous but is ultimately harmful. Okocha argued that the governor’s actions have shown disrespect toward President Bola Tinubu and a disregard for the rule of law.

Okocha emphasized, “The invitation extended to the lawmakers is nothing but a Greek gift. The Supreme Court’s judgment is final, and there is no way to overturn it. Given the circumstances, the governor’s only viable option is to resign voluntarily or face impeachment proceedings.”

This statement reflects the growing tension between the APC and Governor Fubara, with Okocha asserting that the governor’s conduct has fallen short of acceptable standards
