The Nigerian Police Adamawa State Command has launched a manhunt for a suspected ritualist after a woman was tragically killed and beheaded in a hotel in Yola North Local Government Area on January 18.
Reports indicated that the victim was murdered and beheaded by an individual who lodged in the hotel with her. According to a receptionist, the suspect informed her that he was going out to purchase something outside, but failed to return. Upon searching the suspect’s room, they discovered the headless body of the young woman. Authorities were immediately notified, and the state Commissioner of Police, CP Afolabi Babatola, has directed a swift investigation to apprehend the perpetrator and any accomplices involved in this heinous crime for prosecution.

In a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, CP Babatola emphasised that the unjustifiable killing of innocent citizens will not be tolerated. He stressed the sanctity of every citizen’s life and the Command’s commitment to addressing such senseless acts in accordance with the law. CP Babatola also underscored the importance of collaboration with other law enforcement agencies to protect the fundamental rights of all citizens and ensure their safety. The police boss appealed for calm, assuring the public that security agencies are working diligently within the confines of the law to bring the culprit to justice.

The detained suspects, currently in protective custody, are expected to provide crucial information aiding investigators in unraveling the circumstances surrounding this heinous crime. The police have not disclosed specific details about the motive or the identity of the suspected ritualist. This incident has raised concerns about safety measures in hotels, prompting authorities to scrutinise the circumstances leading to such a gruesome event within the premises of the Happy Day Quest Inn Hotel. The police reassured the public that the arrests represent a significant step toward justice for Bilkisu Alhaji Idi and ensuring a thorough investigation of this tragic incident.
