Supreme Court affirms Usman Ododo as Kogi State Governor

Gov. Ododo of Kogi State

In a decisive ruling, the Supreme Court of Nigeria has confirmed Usman Ahmed Ododo as the legitimately elected Governor of Kogi State.

The judgement marks the conclusion of a prolonged legal dispute initiated by Murtala Yakubu Ajaka, the Social Democratic Party (SDP) candidate, who had challenged the election results.

The verdict, delivered earlier today, upholds Governor Ododo’s victory in the recent gubernatorial election, reinforcing his position as the rightful leader of Kogi State.

The court’s decision brings an end to the uncertainty that had loomed over the state since the election, allowing Governor Ododo to fully assume his duties.

Reacting to the judgement, elated Governor Usman Ahmed Ododo expressed his gratitude, stating, “I am thankful to the Supreme Court for confirming my election.

“This judgement reflects the will of the Kogi people, and I am committed to working diligently for their progress”, he assured.

The Chairman of Kogi State All Progressives Congress (APC) also welcomed the ruling, saying, “We are pleased with the Supreme Court’s decision, which validates our party’s success in the election.

“We are eager to continue our development agenda for Kogi State.”

On the other hand, Engr. Musa Ajaka of the SDP, while respecting the judgement, expressed his disappointment.

“Although we disagree with the outcome, we respect the Supreme Court’s ruling. Our efforts to improve Kogi State will persist through other avenues”,he stated.

Meanwhile, the Supreme Court’s ruling not only solidifies Governor Ododo’s mandate, but also brings much-needed stability to Kogi State.

With the legal challenges behind him, the Governor can now focus on fulfilling his campaign promises and steering the state towards development.

Moreover, this judgement underscores the resilience and fairness of Nigeria’s electoral process, strengthening public confidence in the judiciary and the rule of law.

The people of Kogi State can now anticipate a period of progress under Governor Ododo’s leadership.
