Troops Arrest Five Suspected Kidnappers, Recover Arms in Yobe
Troops of Sector 2, Operation HADIN KAI, in collaboration with the Yobe State Hunters Group, have arrested five suspected kidnappers during an intelligence-led operation in Fune Local Government Area of Yobe State.
The operation, carried out on July 23 by troops of the 233 Battalion based at the Damaturu Military Cantonment, followed credible intelligence on the activities of the suspected criminal syndicate at Jegalari Village.
During the raid, troops recovered three locally fabricated AK-47 rifles, one locally made pistol, assorted ammunition and four mobile phones believed to be linked to the suspects’ alleged criminal activities.
The suspects are currently in military custody alongside the recovered exhibits as investigations continue to determine their involvement in kidnapping and other related crimes.
Confirming the operation in a statement on Friday, the Acting Military Information Officer of Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI, Capt. Mohammed Goni, said the operation underscores the military’s commitment to tackling insecurity through intelligence-driven operations.
> “Operation HADIN KAI remains resolute in its commitment to denying terrorists and other criminal elements freedom of action across the North-East through sustained intelligence-driven operations,” Goni said.
He urged residents to remain vigilant and support ongoing security efforts by providing timely and credible information to security agencies.
“Members of the general public should promptly report suspicious persons, movements or activities to the nearest security agency. Timely and credible information from law-abiding citizens remains critical to safeguarding communities and enhancing security across the region,” the statement added.
