RTEAN Bayelsa Chairman Launches “Operation Work and Chop” to Enforce Discipline, Improve Welfare at Igbogene Terminal
The Bayelsa State Chairman of the Road Transport Employers’ Association of Nigeria and South-South Zonal Chairman, Chief Ifie Oyinkuro Ereboh, has launched a two-week monitoring exercise tagged “Operation Work and Chop” at the Igbogene Terminal to strengthen compliance, discipline, and member welfare.
This was contained in a press statement issued to newsmen on Wednesday 13 May by the RTEAN Chairman, Chief Oyinkuro Ereboh.
The operation, which began two days ago and is now in its third day, involves Ereboh working directly from the terminal to ensure full implementation of directives from the RTEAN National Executive Council.
According to the association, the exercise focuses on enforcing the wearing of approved RTEAN uniforms, monitoring attendance, improving sanitation and cleanliness, regulating loading patterns, verifying welfare tickets, and ensuring transparency in revenue collection. It also seeks to address welfare concerns of drivers and members across the state.
Ereboh said the initiative is corrective and strengthening, not punitive, and is aimed at repositioning RTEAN for greater efficiency, improved revenue accountability, and better welfare for members.
“RTEAN remains committed to protecting the interests of its members while promoting professionalism, unity, peace, and operational excellence across all terminals in Bayelsa State,” he said during the exercise.
Officials reported early results within three days, including improved compliance with uniform rules, increased cleanliness at the terminal, more structured loading activities, and stronger monitoring of welfare tickets. Members were said to have expressed renewed confidence in the leadership’s approach.
As both state and zonal chairman, Ereboh said he remains committed to strengthening RTEAN’s structure, promoting discipline and transparency, and improving welfare across Bayelsa and the South-South region.
The Bayelsa State Council urged members to cooperate with the operation and uphold the principles of discipline, accountability, unity, and professionalism. The leadership added that similar monitoring exercises may be extended to other terminals to maintain uniform standards.
