The Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara and his political godfather, who is the current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, have met at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Tuesday.
The two leaders were sighted having handshakes. This led to political pundits conjectures that this could be a swift attempt by President Bola Tinubu to put an end to a lingering clash of interest between the two and their supporters in Rivers State. This is despite the fact that the two leaders appeared at the Presidential Villa on the sideline of the ongoing meeting of the Nigeria Police Council, a body charged with the organisation and administration of the Nigeria Police Force.
In what appeared as a coincidence, it was alleged that President Tinubu who chaired the police council may have used his political sagacity to address issues between the duo.
The Nigeria Police Council comprised the governor of each state of the Federation, the Chairman of the Police Service Commission and the Inspector-General of Police.
The Nigeria Police Council had its last meeting before now on June 4, 2021where the former President Muhammadu Buhari chaired the meeting.
