The management of Rufu Giwa Polytechnic, (RUGIPO) Owo, has appealed to various unions of the Institution to resume for academic activities following an upward review of the government subvention to the instruction by 30 percent.

The Rector of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic Owo Dr. Gani A. Ogundahunsi made the appeal in an interview with Ebony Herald International magazine in a telephone chat on Saturday.
He disclosed that the approval of the 30 percent increment of the government subvention to the School takes effect from June 2023.

According to him, the management has met with the three unions in the school, the Academic Staff Union of the Polytechnic, ASUP, Senior Staff Association of Nigeria Polytechnic, SSANIP and Non Academic staff Union, NASU appealing to them to resume for academic activities at the institute.
Dr Ogundahunsi urged the striking workers to return to work, pleading that they should endure a little more, saying that the situation would change for the better very soon when the Institution starts to enjoy the new subvention.
Ogundahunsi who sympathized with the workers stressed that hard time never lasts for ever as they will smile again after the long suffering and that they should show more understanding of the situation and sacrifice.
The Rector called on the union executives to consider the hard earned stable academic calendar that could be truncated.
While explaining the debt on ground, the rector assured that the management would continue to pay gross salary to his workers.
