NUJ Kebbi Chapter Swears In New Cabinet
The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Kebbi State Chapter has elected a new leadership to steer the affairs of the association for the next three years.
The elections, held on Wednesday at the NUJ Hall in Birnin Kebbi, marked the end of the tenure of the acting chairman, Garba Muhammad Yeldu, and his executive members.
Bello Sarki Abubakar from Kebbi State Television Service emerged as the new chairman, polling 64 votes to defeat Abubakar Attahiru from the Ministry of Information, who secured 30 votes, and Abdullahi Musa Yalmo from Kebbi Television, who garnered 20 votes.
Other elected officials included Junaidu Sani from Equity FM, who won the financial secretary seat with 60 votes, defeating Usman Abdullahi Shehu from NTA, who polled 50 votes. Abubakar Dakingari was elected treasurer with 51 votes, narrowly defeating Sani Umar Mahuta from Kebbi Radio, who scored 50 votes.
Ismail Adebayo of Daily Trust returned as secretary of the union unopposed, while Segun Adeyemi of Kebbi State Radio Broadcasting Corporation emerged as Assistant Secretary unopposed.
Also, Murtala Mu’azu Gotomo from the Ministry of Information and Culture, was elected vice chairman unopposed and Nura Wakala Bena emerged as Auditor unopposed.
In his acceptance speech, Bello Sarki Abubakar expressed his gratitude to Almighty Allah and urged those he contested with and all other members of the union to join hands with him in moving the union forward.
He also thanked the national leadership for conducting a credible and peaceful election.
