The Member Representing Brass Constituency 3 in the Bayelsa State House of Assembly Rt Hon Abraham Ngobere has been re-elected as the Speaker for another four years.

He was nominated by Monday Obolo Bubou, the Member Representing Southern Ijaw Constituency 2 and seconded by hon. Bernard Kenebai, Member Representing Sagbama Constituency 2 .

Ngobere was finally declared unopposed as speaker for another legislative term. The speaker after his election took the oath of office and allegiance as the speaker Bayelsa State 7th Assembly.

Immediately after his oath of office and allegiance, the Akassa born politician presided over the first plenary.
The Speaker thanked members for the confidence repose in him to lead the house again, he expressed his appreciation to his constituents, the executive governor and his party, the people’s Democratic party for their supports.

While acknowledging the daunting challenges confronting legislative business, he promised not to disappoint them and to run an open door inclusive leadership devoid of acrimony.

Ngobere also assured the people of the State that he will give the governor the required support to ensure policies and programs of the prosperity government is actualize for the betterment of the state.

The election for the position of Speaker and other house officers took place shortly after the Clerk of the House, Mr. Tenedia Adogu, had read the state governor’s letter of proclamation of the 7th Bayelsa State House of Assembly.

Governor Douye Diri who was absent during the proceedings had earlier in a letter read by the Clerk of the House, Mr Adogu, dissolved the 6th Assembly.
