The head of the Pan-Yoruba socio-political organization Afenifere, Pa Ayo Adebanjo, has stated that he will abide by the court’s decision if Bola Ahmed Tinubu is victorious over Peter Obi at the Tribunal. Pa Ayo Adebanjo assured Alaroye in an interview that he has no ill will toward the state’s former governor. He claimed that he stood to gain more from Tinubu’s presidency than anyone else in the country.

He denied that racism played any role in his choice to not support Asiwaju. He insisted he cared more about Tinubu’s legitimate rise to power than anything else. Over the course of several years, he received numerous gifts from Tinubu, which he detailed. He made it clear that he does not hate him despite what certain Yoruba people may think. He insists that future generations ought to have realistic expectations.

He said that true Yorubas don’t gossip but instead tell it like it is. If Tinubu prevails over Peter Obi in the tribunal, then I will respect the decision. And as you can see, I, Ayo Adebanjo, have the most to gain from Tinubu being president of Nigeria, as I have already indicated. He is my son, and a nice one at that.

He never fails to surprise me with a gift. During the Covid-19 year, he showered me with presents. Actually, I don’t hate him. But that’s not what I’m arguing; rather, I’m trying to improve things for everyone in Nigeria. I’m not saying he’s generous, but he’s not stingy either. My only stipulation is that he do so in a lawful manner.
