Chief Imam advocates national efforts to combat vices hindering progress
Nigerians, regardless of their religion, ethnicity, or political affiliation, have been urged to support efforts to eliminate banditry, kidnapping, ritual killings, money laundering, and corruption, which continue to hinder the economic development of Nigeria.
The Chief Imam of Arigidi Akoko, Sheikh Jimoh Balogun, said in his Jummah service sermon that no nation can progress with all these vices despite abundant human and natural resources.
The cleric noted that Allah has blessed the country with resources, but their utilization is our responsibility.
Sheikh Balogun wondered how a country like Nigeria, with abundant land, can face serious food crises and famine.
He appealed to the government to focus more on security so that people can produce farm crops that will lower the skyrocketing prices of foodstuffs.
Regarding this year’s Hajj exercise, the Chief Imam called on NACHON to review and improve the exercise, as some Muslim pilgrims complained bitterly about their welfare in the Holy Land.
