Hashim Abioye

In his determination to ensure a hitch free local government election in Osun state, the Chairman, Osun State Independent Electoral Commission, OSSIEC, Mr Hashim Abioye has seek for inter agency cooperation among Security Agencies in the State .

Abioye who is seeking the of security forces Support ahead of preparation for the conduct of the local government elections across the state paid a visited the Zonal Command of the Federal Road Safety Commission, FRSC, Osogbo ,the state capital on Thursday

Speaking during the visits,Abioye spelt out the duties and responsibilities of OSSIEC to include
organizing, conducting and supervising Local government election exercises across the State, hence the need to create a platform for mutual understanding and cooperation with all the security agencies across the state.

The OSSIEC boss emphasized the importance of conducting a free,fair and credible elections,which,
according to him, can only come to fruition if there’s a cordial working relationship between the Commission and Security agencies.

Earlier, the Zonal Commander of FRSC, Commander Mesach and the FRSC State Sector Commander,Mr Benamaisia appreciated the Chairman and his entire team for the visit.
They promised to do all they can within their official purview to support the Commission in any capacity,before,during and after the forthcoming LG elections throughout Osun state.

While the FRSC pledged readiness to ensure that all vehicles that will be used to transport election materials get to their respective destinations in good conditions, through adequate sensitization and training of the drivers, the Deputy Comptroller of the Nigeria Customs Service in charge of Oyo/Osun, S.S Abdulkadri also promised to give support to OSSIEC through sensitization of residents of Osun not to get involve in smuggling of outlawed goods into the State.
