In previous Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial primaries in Bayelsa State there had never been a time an aspirant emerged as a sole candidate of the PDP,it has always been a contest on who to be the party flagbearer in the general election.
It is however different scenario in the last gubernatorial primary in the state where the incumbent governor Senator Douye Diri clinched the party ticket without any contender.
Speaking to newsmen on this development and other issues concerning the governor second term bid is Dr Rosalyn Dressman,the Diaspora Focal point Officer Bayelsa State,who described Diri’s emergence in the just concluded gubernatorial primary as unprecedented in the history of politics in the state.
She said “The endorsement of governor Douye Diri by the party is unprecedented in the history of politics in Bayelsa State. It is a deserved trust from the party.
“Governor Douye Diri has always supported sustainability in the infrastructural development, health sector, educational system, and security.
“Some years back, the state was an international discourse on insecurity but right now, we can attest to the reality of calm that has returned to the state.
According to Dr Dressman the governor’s potential plan to further boost investment in the state will come to fulfilment if re-elected, adding that continuity in infrastructure amongst others.
Dr Dressman who is also the Technical Assistant on Diaspora Matters appealed to Bayelsians not to vote any other candidate base on the fact that the second tenure will experience massive human capital development.
She hinted and hopeful that Senator Douye Diri will return going by his track records which surpassed that of his predecessors.
Her words”No past governor has completed his predecessors unfinished projects,excepts governor Douye Diri that means he’s prudent”
Governor Douye Diri is a unifier, a bridge builder with an uncommon knack for justice and fairness. His project distribution cuts across the three senatorial districts.
“Senator Douye Diri grew through the ranks and had been in the system for quite a while, so, he has much experience and expertise, hence the calm and tranquility he has brought to bear on the citizenry. Let him be given another chance to complete his blue print he has for the state.
