Ekiti govt trains new health workers, emphasises professionalism
Ekiti State Commissioner for Capacity Development and Training, Prof. Patrick Tedela, has restated the government’s commitment to regularly training health workers to maintain top-tier healthcare service delivery in the state.
Speaking at a three-day orientation workshop for newly employed clinical and non-clinical officers of the State Hospitals’ Management Board, Prof. Tedela highlighted how the COVID-19 pandemic underscored the need for a well-structured healthcare system and adequately trained professionals.
He reiterated the government’s resolve to prioritise capacity building for its workforce, stating: “The government of Ekiti State, under the leadership of His Excellency, Mr. Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, recognises that a well-trained workforce is essential to achieving the six pillars of this administration.”
The Commissioner urged participants to maximise the training opportunity to enhance their skills and build a solid foundation for their careers.
Addressing the participants, the State Head of Service, Dr. Folakemi Olomojobi, represented by the Permanent Secretary, Office of Establishment and Service Matters, Mrs. Janet Ajibola, congratulated them on their appointment.
She emphasised that the Oyebanji-led administration remains committed to workers’ welfare, including regular training and capacity development, and charged them to justify the confidence reposed in them by the government.
Earlier, the Permanent Secretaries of the Ministry of Capacity Development and Training, Mr. Olawale Olaleye, and the Hospitals’ Management Board, Dr. Olasunkanmi Alabi, commended the state government for organising the workshop.
They urged participants to stay focused throughout the training to make the most of the opportunity, stressing that the future of healthcare service delivery in Ekiti State rests in their hands.
Expressing their satisfaction with the programme, two participants, Nurse Adebayo Timileyin and Dr. Olodi Beneth, described the training as invaluable, stating that it would significantly broaden their knowledge and advance their careers.
