INC Election: Ijaws, Deserve Better Representation —Oyakemeagbegha

By Chris Mark

Ahead of the Ijaw National Congress, INC election, the candidate contesting for the position of the first Vice President Chief (ENGR) Ezonebi Oyakemeagbegha said if voted for he will bring his wealth of experience to bear for the betterment of Ijaw people.

Oyakemeagbegha, who’s the present National Publicity Secretary, said by virtue of his position he has been able to interact with various leaders across board, hence understands the plight of the people, adding that he will work with his fellow EXCO to carry out laid down policies and programmes.

He made this known on Thursday while speaking to newsmen at Ijaw House Yenagoa Bayelsa State, where he said his desire to contest is based on consolidation and as well the wish of the people.

He emphasised that as a team player he will work with his fellow EXCO and will never betray the confidence bestowed on him as he contest to be the first Vice President (Western Zone).

His words “Am the present National Publicity Secretary, for consolidation in the last four years we have done well by virtue of my position interacting with the various offices at NEC with consolidation we will take the INC to the next level also people from the Western Zone my own zone when we came on board the voice of the INC was low at one particular time it was the IYC that was speaking but when we came on board we were able to do things rightly.”

” In as much as there’s no specific assignment For the Vice President, I will request that the President gives a particular assignment to interact with the grassroot and clan chairmen because that caused the present EXCO a lot, we need to go to the grassroot so they’ll know what the INC entails. Some people see it as a socio-cultural group but beyond that is also a pressure group so we want to involve the grassroot.”

He also noted that him and his team will not relent but work assiduously for the creation of two new states namely Oil rich state and Toru-Ibe state for Iiaw nation to be happy as well as his late father who until his death has been championing the cause for the creation of the two states.

While listing out some of the achievements of the present EXCO, the INC talisman said there’s a clear map of Ijaw territory and warned mischief makers claiming ijaw land to stay out of IJaw territory as it will not be business as usual.

He commended the ELECO for the good job done so far and prayed they continues, saying there’s every tendency that the election will be a free and fair one considering the pedigree of the ELECO chairman.
