Adamawa Govt cancels cross over night activities

The Adamawa State Government has cancelled all activities scheduled for the Cross Over Night celebration at the Unity Fly-Over in Jimeta, Yola, citing security concerns.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the government said the decision followed credible intelligence reports bordering on security threats ahead of the December 31, 2025 to January 1, 2026 transition.

According to the statement, signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Humwashi Wonosikou, the safety and security of residents remain the administration’s top priority.

“The Adamawa State Government has cancelled all activities planned for the Cross Over Night at the Unity Fly-Over in Jimeta–Yola based on credible intelligence reports that border on security,” the statement read.

The government assured residents that it would continue to work closely with security agencies to maintain peace and stability across the state.

Residents, particularly those in Yola North and Yola South Local Government Areas, were urged to remain vigilant, avoid crowded places, and promptly report any suspicious activities to the relevant authorities.

The state government added that further updates would be communicated as necessary.
