Gov Douye Diri Resigns from PDP Alongside Assembly Members. By Chris Mark

Sen. Douye Diri

The Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, said he has formally resigned his membership from the People’s Democratic Party, PDP.

The governor who was elected in 2019, was also reelected in 2023 under the PDP disclosed this during the expanded State Executive Council meeting also attended by members of the Assembly.

According to him he was not resigning alone but with some party members of the State House of Assembly.

His words ” I formally resign my membership from the PDP, and I am not doing it alone. As you can see I am here with the speaker of BYSHA, the deputy speaker and the members of the party in the state”

Some others are not also here with us because they are out on official engagement.

Am doing this for very obvious reasons. I am grateful to all our friends and supporters who have stood by us, together we will build a strong and virile Bayelsa State and Nigeria by extension.

Our correspondent gathered that his decision to resign and defect to the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, isn’t supported by major stakeholders of the party, National Assembly members and some members of the Assembly in the state.
