Onifiye Adimula of Idado-Ijesa mourns death of Owa Obokun Adimula, Oba Dr Aromolaran
The Onifiye Adimula of Idado-Ijesa, His Royal Majesty Oba Michael Kehinde Adebowale Taiwo (Jowele Lori-Oko Orilobamise II), has expressed deep sorrow over the demise of His Imperial Majesty, Oba Dr Gabriel Adekunle Aromolaran, the Owa Obokun Adimula and paramount ruler of Ijesaland.
Oba Aromolaran, whose reign lasted for 42 remarkable years, passed away recently, bringing his monumental rule to a close.
In a statement issued by Oba Michael Kehinde Adebowale Taiwo, the Onifiye Adimula of Idado-Ijesa commiserated with the entire Ijesa community both at home and abroad.
He described the late monarch as a beacon of truth, a symbol of wisdom, and a role model to the people of Ijesaland.
“With a heavy heart, but in total submission to the will of God, I, on behalf of myself and the good people of Idado-Ijesa, extend our deepest condolences to all Ijesa sons and daughters on the passing of our father, Owa Obokun Adimula, Oba Dr Gabriel Adekunle Aromolaran, who has joined his ancestors,” the statement read.
Oba Aromolaran, according to the Onifiye Adimula, was not just a pillar to his family, but to the entire Ijesa community, particularly Idado-Ijesa, with which the palace and culture of Owa Obokun Adimula have been closely intertwined.
The late monarch’s contributions to the preservation of Ijesa culture, traditions, and unity were highlighted as a defining feature of his reign.
Oba Michael Kehinde Adebowale Taiwo praised the legacy left behind by the departed king, noting that his influence extended far beyond Ijesaland to the broader Nigerian landscape.
“We pray that God grants solace to his family and all Ijesa people, wherever they may be, in the worthy legacy and lasting impact he left on the history of Ijesaland and Nigeria at large,” the statement concluded.
The Onifiye Adimula ended his message by bidding farewell to the monarch with the words, “Adieu, Oba Ria Oyibo Ileki.”
